Mistake #1- we came during Essencefest Mistake #2- we had no reservations We waited ONE HOUR AND FORTY-FIVE minutes for a table. And before you say "I would've left", this was during Essencefest, there was no where to go, it was pouring outside and Ubers were quoting almost a 30 minute way for a one mile ride. I was INSANITY. So we sat, in the air condition and we waited. We people watched, we looked at the menu and we waited some more. Finally, we got a table. The restaurant is huge. I was pleasantly surprised by how big it was. Yes, we waited a long time but mannnnnn the food was AMAZING. I got the lobster pasta and I tore it up! We got the crab dip and it was delicious!! My aunt ordered rhe shrimp and grits and she loved it's I have ZERO complaints about the food I ordered. Our waitress was sweet and helpful. Literally, aside from the insane wait time and I blame that on Essencefest, I have nothing bad to say. It was authentic New Orleans food and I enjoyed it. Grade- A

This location was inside the Hilton Riverside building. Food - was fabulous! Seafood pasta was loaded with shrimp and crabmeat, delicious. Shrimp and grits were also off the hook as well. Best item was the chargrilled oysters. A must get item here. It comes with 3 pieces of French bread. Ask for extra bread. Trust me. You'll know why. Service - I sat in the bar area and service was good and attentive. Ambiance - good, simple, clean, lots of room. Highly recommend.

I've had Drago's countless times this weekend and finally making my review. To start, I've been dreaming about their charbroiled oysters since the last time I left New Orleans. These oysters never fail to put a smile on my face, they are THAT good. The garlic buttery flavor and smokiness of the oysters are so on point, if you travel to NOLA and do not stop by Drago's for their charbroiled oysters did you even visit NOLA? I also tried the seafood gumbo which had a really nice flavor and not too salty. Unfortunately the only seafood I had this time around was the shrimp but it was good nonetheless. I sat at the bar during the lunch rush and service was pretty quick. Overall I love this place I will be back next time I am in New Orleans.

Everything was solid and was a great scenic choice. Food could use a little more zest, but was solid and definitely worth the stop. Oysters were solid, could be a little bigger. Gumbo was delicious and roux was on point. The crab dip was more like Alfredo. Worth the visit while in New Orleans.

Came here twice because the chargrilled oysters were amazing! The first night, I walked up to the hostess stand to get on the waitlist for a table for 5. It was a very small area and pretty crowded so I went up by myself. Hermes advised my WHOLE party had to be with me. The space did not allow for my group plus the group ahead of me, which was 10 people for their group. Once seated, we ordered drinks. I ordered a hurricane. It was just okay. I had originally ordered the Salty Coast Off Bottom Raw Oysters for $2.75 each. You have to order a minimum of 3 oysters. After ordering, our served advised they were out of them. I really wanted raw oysters so I ordered a half dozen of the Raw Oysters on the Half Shell for $15.95. Very good. They were huge! For my meal I ordered a dozen of the Chargrilled Oysters for $31.95 and a side of fries for $5.95. The fries were unfortunately terrible, not seasoned, or crispy. The chargrilled oysters were phenomenal! They were perfectly seasoned and grilled. They come with crispy baguette to dip in the garlic butter. These were so amazing that we came back a second time. I once again ordered a dozen of the Chargrilled Oysters. So incredible!

This place is quite a hidden gem imo! Dragos is located inside the Marriott Riverside hotel. I'm always skeptical of hotel restaurants. The particular day I visited, I was attending a conference at the Marriott and only had a short window for lunch. I decided to give this place a try. Entering the restaurant from inside the hotel is a little confusing and the staff direct you to the front of the restaurant where the hostess is. I was seated immediately. The waiter was attentive and answered all my questions. For my meal I ordered the red beans and rice (it's one of my favorite classic NOLA dishes!). I also ordered 6 charbroiled oysters (upon recommendation of my waiter). The oysters were out in like 5 minutes... super fast. But they were seasoned to perfection. The buttery sauce they were served in was literally finger licking good! My red beans and rice came out not long after. It was delish! Very much enjoyed it. For the lunch rush, the restaurant never got too crazy. I would absolutely come back just for the charbroiled oysters alone. Excellent!

Drago's is located in the Hilton at the edge of the French Quarter and came as a highly recommended restaurant to try for oysters. They do not have a reservation system and your entire party has to arrive to be seated. It is a large enough restaurant that you will get seated quite quickly. We had to wait for our party to arrive so we decided to get a couple of drinks. I got a Moscow Mule and it was one of the worst I've ever had. The food was a different story. The food was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The Charbroiled oysters were the obvious star and the highlight of my NOLA trip this time. If you want to try charbroiled oysters anywhere, Drago's is the place to do it. We also got the gator tacos which were pretty decent and a little bland. The gator meat could easily just have been chicken. For the mains, our group of 7 got the seafood pasta, crawfish fest, the Cajun baked catch and one other main that I forget the name of now. Everything was delicious. The crawfish fest did not feel much like a fest quantity wise between two people but it was delicious. On the other hand, the Cajun baked catch seemed too little as my friend cleaned up her plate to sparkly clean. It is a little pricey. Their mains are good but I would highly recommend coming here for the oysters. That is the highlight. Everything else is just good NOLA food which you'd be able to have elsewhere in NOLA too.

Pros: I've been here twice before, and these oysters were and are still pretty darn near the best bite in town, as advertised. Ambiance is great, very classy- and upscale-looking. Cons: Service was poor. Very grumpy group. Tips: Get the charbroiled oysters. They're amazing.

I came to Drago's about five years ago to have dinner while I was attending a conference in town. I had never had a charbroiled oyster before, and my socks were legit knocked off. The menu promised me that they were the best bite in town, and they weren't too far off. So, when I came back to town for the Christmas season, I had to come back to see if they were still as good as I remembered them being. Nestled in the lobby of the beautiful New Orleans Hilton, the dining room is quite expansive. There's a bar, a big seating area around the bar, some random booths, the oyster bar, and some tables deep in the back. And it's all done up pretty well. Aesthetically pleasing. Service was definitely subpar. Very grumpy people all on their cell phones and need to be waved over if you need anything. But the oysters. They're still top notch. The epitome of decadence and unctuousness. These cheese and butter-lubed shellfish slide right down in a delicious bite that you will remember for a very long time. Cooked well, seasoned well, cheesed well, buttered well. Just so good. And they even come with big hunks of bread for if you want to sop up all the leftover. Overall, the magic of the place has kind of come and gone, but I feel like all restaurants kind of just lose their magic over time and coast on their fame. But, I'm glad that while this place is doing just that, the oysters are still good. Will come back.
